About

Hello everyone!
Welcome to my blog, Mark Learns French!

I'm Mark, and I've decided to start this blog as a sort of chronicle for my French-learning experience. It's a language that I've been in love with for almost my entire life, and after learning at school all those years ago, I think it's high time that I made a more serious effort with it!

I do actually have a GCSE and A level in French, achieving high grades in both, though that was way back in 2003, so there has been a lot of water under that bridge, and I've found that I have forgotten a lot of what I used to know. Back at Christmas 2019, then, I set about trying to re-learn everything from online resources, just as a casual thing in my spare time, and it has fast overtaken my life, as I rekindled those flames!

That was almost six months ago, at the time I'm writing this page, and I have come a long way already, but there is so much further I have to go! I think it was in February 2020 when I decided I was actually going to start taking this seriously, and started to look into the process of the DELF exams - then coronavirus happened, and life was put on hold! However, it hasn't dampened my enthusiasm, and so I've decided to start this blog to help with my progress, and maybe to inspire others along the way!

It's my intention to publish something here at least once a week, as I keep a record of what I've been learning and how I'm using the language. The internet is a great place for learning, though it can sometimes prove to be difficult to know if the resource you're using is right - make no mistake, then, that I am very much still learning, and may be writing (and speaking!) utter nonsense! If you're a learner like me, don't take anything for granted that you might read here; if you're more proficient, or indeed a native French speaker, please please please feel free to provide correction and guidance!

Hopefully, this will be a great little site as time goes on!
